CROATIAN
The largest wave of Croatians migrating to America occurred from 1890-1914. Many were fleeing poverty and overpopulation in their homeland. Later, the Communist revolution spurred thousands to leave Yugoslavia for America.
In the 2000 census, 374,241 people in the U.S. claimed Croatian ancestry.
