Chelsea is a neighborhood of New York

Roughly bounded by 14th Street, 30th Street, 6th Avenue and the Hudson River.
The area was developed as a garden suburb by Clement Clarke Moore, who is best known for his poem, "A Visit from St. Nicholas."
The guest list at the Chelsea Hotel, on West 23rd Street, has featured many artists and writers over the years. Dylan Thomas, Eugene O'Neill, Thomas Wolfe and Bob Dylan stayed here. Nancy Spungen, girlfriend of punk rocker Sid Vicious, was murdered here in 1978.
Birthplace of the English muffin. After opening a bakery at 163 Ninth Ave. in 1880, Englishman Samuel Bath Thomas began selling his trademark breakfast cakes.
Well-known residents have included:
· Joni Mitchell, singer/composer who wrote the song "Chelsea Morning" while living here
