Gage Park is a neighborhood of Chicago
The community is named after Henry Gage, an early settler.
The neighborhood is southwest of downtown, seven miles from the Loop.
Roughly bounded by 49th Street, 59th Street, Leavitt and Central Park.
Former and merged names include:
The first settlers to the area, German farmers, arrived in the 1840s.
In the first two decades of the 1900s, the area experienced heavy growth, mostly due to fleeing Back of the Yards residents and the extension of electric trolley to the area.
