COUNTY POPULATION GROWTH
Loudoun County, VA, led the nation in population growth between 2000 and 2003, according to estimates by the U.S. Census Bureau. Although a Virginia county grabbed the top spot, Georgia dominated, with four entries on the list below.
The bureau estimates county population annually in the years between the census. These figures represent the most recent estimates, for July 2003. The top 10 counties and their growth rates, among counties with at least 50,000 people in 2000:
- Loudoun County, VA - 30.7%
- Douglas County, CO - 27.1%
- Forsyth County, GA - 25.8%
- Henry County, GA - 25.7%
- Newton County, GA - 22.8%
- Paulding County, GA - 22.5%
- Kendall County, IL - 22.0%
- Collin County, TX - 21.5%
- Williamson County, TX - 21.5%
- Scott County, MN - 21.3%
